Lockheed Martin Corp. CEO Marillyn Hewson announced last week that she reached an agreement with President-elect Donald Trump to reduce the costs of the F-35, and a key subcontractor on the program has shed a bit more light on how deep those reductions may be. “We’ve been told through Lockheed that the president has an ambition to reduce the cost of that aircraft by a material amount of money, many percent, into double digits over a period,” Roger Carr, chairman of the British BAE Systems PLC, told Bloomberg Television Wednesday at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. BAE Systems Inc., the U.S. subsidiary of its British parent, is based in Arlington.
