I'm in. Listened to their webcast from some conference in Sept. I believe it was the CFO. The guy impresses me. Matter of fact, no hype, just tells it like he sees it. It sounds to me like there is a lot of opportunity in this business and CALX seems like they are poised to get a decent chunk of it.
On a more personal level, I dumped my cable service and now get my TV on an online service (Sony Vue) through my phone company DSL. (Centurylink it happens to be). It seems to me that this is the element of the broadband world that has a lot of room to expand. Get fiber to more places. My house is in a moderately dense neighborhood and I'm sure we're fairly down the list of the most promising sources of profit for fiber compared to things like apartment buildings where it's not as expensive to get fiber to a whole lot of residences. But it seems like this is where things are headed.
What are the cable companies going to do? Lash a fiber onto their existing coaxial cables?
