    Here's how much Churchill Downs paid its 4 top executives in 2016

    Three top executives at Louisville-based Churchill Downs Inc. saw decreases in total compensation for 2016, while the company's chief financial officer saw a significant pay bump. For CEO Bill Carstanjen, the decrease in pay was about $3 million, according to the company's proxy statement filed this week with the Securities and Exchange Commission. Carstanjen also earned roughly $14,000 in "other compensation," which includes disability insurance and life insurance premiums.

    The Kentucky Derby Museum has partnered with Churchill Downs Racetrack to host a behind-the-scenes look at the ornate landscaping and plant life at the fabled Louisville venue. The Derby Museum announced Wednesday that it will begin offering a Garden and Greenhouse Tour at Churchill Downs Racetrack later this month, giving guests a chance to talk to the people behind the elegant horticulture on site. As of now, only two dates have been scheduled for the tour, which departs by van from the Kentucky Derby Museum and tours parts of the 147-acre racetrack grounds and its gardens and greenhouses.
