    Communications technology firm plans layoffs, plant shutdown in Tampa

    Comtech Telecommunications Inc. will lay off 40 workers and close its plant in Tampa. The layoffs began Feb. 16 and will continue through mid-June, according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification, or WARN, the company sent to the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity. The plant previously was owned by Telecommunications Systems Inc., acquired by Comtech for $430.8 million, said the Baltimore Business Journal .
