Ex-con Joe Nacchio accuses Apple of 'PR ploy' in iPhone dispute

Joe Nacchio, the former CEO of Denver's Qwest who went to prison for insider trading, is accusing Apple Inc. of cynicism in its opposition to a court's order that it helped federal authorities gather data from a terrorist's iPhone. "This is clearly a PR ploy," the disgraced executive said in a Fox Business Network interview. "I mean, I’m sure the Apple lawyers know they’re going to lose this one, and I think it was done to give the customers a sense that Apple is trying to hold the line — but at the end of the day, national security will trump private corporations.” The tech giant (AAPL) has been ordered by a federal magistrate to help the FBI hack into the passcode-protected iPhone used by Syed Farook, one of the shooters in the December attack in San Bernardino, California, that left 14 dead.
