    Salesforce acquires Demandware and plans to expand in Boston area: Amid a flurry of mergers and acquisitions this summer, one of the biggest was the $2.8 billion buyout of Burlington-based e-commerce firm Demandware by San Francisco tech giant Salesforce. In June, Salesforce announced that Demandware would soon be known as the "commerce-cloud inside Salesforce." Fears that Massachusetts would lose employees were quelled somewhat when Demandware (DWRE) said it plans to significantly expand its headquarters in Burlington over the next five years by 55 percent in square footage.

    Demandware Is 'Best Ecommerce Cloud Asset' For CRM: UBS

    UBS analyst Brent Thill and his team have an update on Salesforce.com (CRM) in the wake of Brexit and the Demandware acquisition, which effectively closed earlier this week. Thill reiterated a Buy rating and $100 price target on the stock, writing that while Demandware was Salesforce’s largest acquisition ever, it’s still relatively small, less than 5% of the company’s overall revenues, so revisions to this estimates are modest. From a strategic standpoint, he applauds the Demandware deal, as it fills “a large hole” in Salesforce’s customer-facing product portfolio.
