  • Things are not better but certainly not worse. Jumper did give a note of optimism. I am pulling the trigger if it dips into the 3's.
  • Been scouting around looking for bargains with stocks I've held over the years. Looking at DWSN for the 1st time in years. Was really surprised looking at the bal sheet and earnings statements.....
**Cash of almost $55 mil on 12-31-16
**Loss in '16 of almost $40 million, but here's what JUMPED out at me. Depreciation and Amortization of $44 million. EBITDA for the year was only negative $2.045 million and was positive in Q4.
**The cash flow leverage here is tremendous. The slightest up turn will move them to positive cash flow and EPS will follow, albeit a few quarters behind.
**I'm seeing some drillers out there (I hold SWN, GPOR, and SWTF) raising their CAPEX levels significantly for 2017. How far behind can a pickup in seismic be?
***Will likely be buying DWSN Monday morning (April 3, 2017). Very cheap @ 5.56 and a market cap of only about $121 million. All in my opinion.......................

  • The Price-to-Book value of this stock (which I own) is amazing: ~0.7. The only way you shouldn't buy a stock with that low a valuation is if you think it will go bankrupt. However, the debt is so low ($17M), it won't go bankrupt unless it wants to. It may take a while to recover, but the risk is very low. WIth Saudi Arabia and Wall Street looking to prop oil before the Aramco IPO, this stock looks safe.
  • Hello $5's I knew that this would come back down from those lofty unwarranted heights. I too have played this stock over the years to my advantage and everytime oil gets on the wrong side of the market and dances with $40 per barrell it portends bad stuff for DWSN and MIND. I will tip toe in again below $5.00 and ride this once again into the the fall and winter months back to $8 - $10 range. Canada season only 4 - 5 months away, so should be opportunity to load all summer in the $5's....hello

  • Have owned DWSN several times over the years. Jumper is always straight up. When he says things are turning around, they will turn around. My feeling is with Trump's drilling policy and global oil price stabilization, it is not too far away.
  • How many investors are aware of $DWSN’s 2.2% debt to equity ratio?
Is Dawson Geophysical Company (DWSN) As Financially Strong As Its Low Debt-Load Indicates?
Small-cap companies such as Dawson Geophysical Company (NASDAQ:DWSN) with its market cap of USD $168 Million, have high growth potential but financial strength is the deciding factor in their long-term survival.

  • Like I've said in previous posts, these are unnormal times with an unnormal recovery in the oil sector. That "fake" run into $9 per share couldn't be sustained and like I called for it quickly reversed and came back.. The downtrend is not over, and as I said the summer was bleak, and Q3 will be even worse. You can't sustain a $9 per share price with four crews working. Look at the loss, the burn and amount of income. There's a misbalance, in the spreadsheets and its coming to the attention of investors that this recovery is going to take at least another year to play out. You will see a re-test of the $4 handle no doubt.
