    Post-proxy battle, Financial Institutions turns attention back to long-term plan

    Financial Institutions Inc. will move forward with plans to expand in Buffalo and Rochester following the resounding defeat of an investor challenger who called for the company to rethink its strategy and consider selling itself. President and CEO Martin Birmingham said the Wyoming County-headquartered parent of Five Star Bank will continue to build out its community banking model in the markets it serves. What it’s not focused on, at least not right now: another proxy contest.
