Earnings beats and the stock drops 6%? I don't get it.
Up quite a bit BEFORE earnings ... is this a sell the news or sell in May and go away? Tempted to take some profits now before earnings/may ... thoughts?
T0pMarketGaIners.c0m is one of the best “alerts” services I have found. Just sign up and watch from the sidelines, you will see!
The last time KLIC did something like this it blew up. Things look enticing now that institutional ownership has hit 87.70%. I started receiving notifications from awesome-STOCKS the other week and so far they have presented interesting new trade ideas.
Well, looks like ER was good!I missed the bump this morning but have a sale in for a small lot under what is today's high that I got entered after the bump.I may end up writing some covered calls on other shares to try and squeak out just a little more on those shares...I owuld only risk about 1/4 of remaining holdings.Good luck folks!Looks liek Yahoo has succeeded in driving everyone away!dcx didn't even update the results of the "annual #$%$ stock picking contest" here.
Congratulations to OfJames, winner of the 15th Annual Cr-ppy Stock Picking Contest. It was the closest contest ever. At the end, the top three stocks were within about 2% of each other. As a group, we were up 6.1%, handily beating the major market averages. OfJames pick TRVN benefited from a Trump tailwind on the final day. Let me know the charity you wish me to donate to.
And can I tell you how f'ed up these Yahoo (jerks) message boards are now. It would have been nice to keep this contest to a single thread, but this format makes it impossible. Just try to find the half dozen or so threads that the contest has used, then try to get a coherent read on them. Thanks Marissa Mayer, and especially the amazingly incompetent project manager, the mostly unemployed for the five prior years Michael LaGuardia, for foisting this monstrosity on us.
Tomorrow is the final day of the 15th Annual Cr-ppy Stock Picking Contest. Three of the six stocks are within a few percentage points of each other. Today we had a bad day as a group, down nearly 3%. I didn't see any news affecting individual stocks, but our biotech heavy group took a beating.
Starting clean again. We were down over 1% as a group. STNG was downgraded by Bank of America and fell over 6%. SODI reported an unexpectedly good quarter today and announced near record bookings for the upcoming quarter. It rose from last to second place.
We underperformed as a group, down over 1.1% on a mixed market day. VRTX was the only winner, on news that it is looking for acquisitions. It is now in first place. RDHL announced "positive" phase 3 results as only spammed biodreck can. RDHL scored a hat trick... 1. protocol-defined (exclude patients who do not precisely follow protocol), 2. modified intent-to-treat (exclude others for whatever reason), and 3. historical standard of care primary endpoint (why not TPC). Mr. Market was not impressed.
Starting a new, clean thread because Yahoo (jerks) makes it impossible to maintain an existing one. I'm sure that Marissa Mayer and her toadie hire Michael LaGuardia consider the board upgrade a rousing success, since it requires much fewer resources because of all the users they have driven away. But I digress.
OfJames got his pick Trevena (TRVN) at the last minute. TRVN is developing an opioid with fewer side effects for post surgical use in hospital settings. I've been tempted to take a small position myself.
Hirohisa, you were late, we typically track NKTR as the contest goes along.
We got off to a good start on day one. Scorpio Tankers leads. There is no real news to report.
Time is almost up. You have until midnight tonight to enter the Cr-ppy Stock Picking Contest. Thanks to Yahoo (jerks), no doubt, only five people have signed up so far. All are welcome to enter.
Time is running out to enter the 15th Annual Cr-ppy Stock Picking contest. Get your picks in now. All are welcome to enter. Don't forget, it's for a good cause. $100 will be donated to the charity of the winner's choice.
Announcing the 15th Annual Cr-ppy Stock Picking Contest
It's very simple. December often sees tax loss selling in poorly performing stocks, and these stocks often see a rebound in January. Your task is to pick the stock that will perform best in January, 2017. The contest is open to all. To make it interesting, I will make a $100 donation to the charity of the winner's choice. So sharpen your pencils, get your DD on, and remember, it's for a good cause.
1. Pick the stock that will do best in January, 2017. It has to be a stock, not options or warrants or anything similar. Unleveraged simple ETF's are also acceptable.
2. It must be priced at $1 or more at the close of 2016.
3. One person per stock, one stock per person.
4. Your pick doesn't have to be a lousy company, but such picks are encouraged. If possible, provide a story about the company and why you believe it will be a good choice.
5. Entries must be received by 12:00 AM, January 2, 2017.
6. Good luck to all.
If there is anyone left (other than dcx).
Late last week I lightened up some KLIC at just above 16. Like 5% of my shares.
If we get much higher I will likely write some covered calls.
It's amazing how Yahoo has frustrated real posters, and seem to have bread SPAM!
Anyone still around here? I'm thinking about running the stock picking contest again.
$KLIC......... Tired of being on the wrong side of the trade? So was I until I joined Loin Stock AlertQ........ The alerts are quality, not junk and they are straight forward and cut out the hype.
