    Rocket explosion settlement wipes out Aerojet's earnings so far this year — and then some

    A company filing on Tuesday shows it lost $23.6 million through the first nine months of its fiscal year, including $50 million spent on a settlement in September over the Antares accident in a spectacular launch failure and explosion last October. The quarterly earnings statement also had some good news for Aerojet: Last year at the same point it had lost $63.1 million. In the third quarter alone, Aerojet Rocketdyne recorded a loss of $38.1 million, compared to a loss of $9.9 million last year.
