The burger giant's new mobile technology may soon transform the fast-food industry.
Nearly three dozen consumer, environmental and public health groups on Thursday pressed privately held In-N-Out Burger to make good on its vow to set time lines for phasing out the use of beef raised with antibiotics vital to human health. Some 70 percent of antibiotics needed to fight infections in humans are sold for use in meat and dairy production. Restaurant chains such as Chipotle Mexican Grill Inc , Panera Bread Co, McDonald's Corp and Subway already have joined the fight against superbugs by working with their meat suppliers to curb the use of important human antibiotics.
The Panera Bread restaurant at 600 E. Pratt St. across from the Power Plant is closing June 30 after 10 years of business in the location. The restaurant and David S. Brown Enterprises Ltd., which developed the Lockwood Place retail center, confirmed the closure Tuesday. Panera moved into the roughly 5,000 square feet on the corner of Pratt Street and Market Place in 2007, marking the company's first downtown location.
