On January 25, California's insurance commissioner asked insurers doing business with the state to divest of their holdings in utilities that get at least 30% of their electric capacity from thermal coal. It states: Complying with this request would include making no new investments, not renewing any existing investments and selling or withdrawing from existing investments in thermal coal.
