With chip maker Broadcom (AVGO) set to report quarterly results this Thursday, September 1st, after the closing bell, the company’s fundamentals, and its potential to acquire other companies, are on many analysts’ minds. Along with a note this morning from Citigroup’s Chris Danely, suggesting Broadcom could acquire Xilinx (XLNX), another fellow who’s pondering M&A is MKM Partners’s Ian Ing, who thinks Xilinx is one of the few remaining good deals to be had, the other two being Marvell Technology Group (MRVL) and Cavium (CAVM). Ing, who has a Buy rating on Broadcom shares, and a $188 price target, writes that a merger with Qualcomm (QCOM) would be nice, he suggests, but such a deal would be unlikely to get approval: Investors now focus on how quickly they can do another accretive acquisition.
