Sneak peek: National Harbor’s splashy new wedding venue

When it opens this spring, Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center's new RiverView Ballroom is sure to catch more than a few brides’ eyes. In fact, the 24,000-square-foot standalone facility with views of the Potomac River from three sides already has — four Indian weddings are booked or near booking the venue, said a rep from Gaylord. Hotel owner Ryman Hospitality (RHP) — a Nashville real estate investment trust that owns all Gaylord resorts around the country — decided to spend more than $25 million to build the facility because it wanted a place to host social and smaller events when its main, 50,000-square-foot ballroom was already booked.

Ryman reveals new details, renderings for $90M water park

Ryman Hospitality Properties Inc. will spend $90 million to build a "luxury" indoor/outdoor water park adjacent to Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center, CEO Colin Reed confirmed today. The park, first reported by the Nashville Business Journal last week , will be called SoundWaves and will be for hotel guests only. Ryman's new water park won't be open to the public. Here's why.

If the news that Ryman Hospitality Properties Inc. is planning a $90 million water park at Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center had you trying on your swimsuit and pulling out your favorite flip-flops, slow down for a second. The park, slated to open late next year , will be a "premium add-on amenity" for guests, in the words of CEO Colin Reed, not an attraction open to the public. Additionally, Reed said, tourists from "far afield," like the international visitors Nashville is courting , want to fill more than just "a long weekend" when they make a trip to a city like Nashville.
