Canada-based Brookfield Asset Management submitted alternative proposals for a possible buyout of TerraForm Power Inc., a yieldco of local bankrupt renewable energy developer SunEdison Inc. Brookfield said it would buy all of TerraFormPower's outstanding shares for $11.50 in cash, or $1.6 billion, and alternately proposed replacing SunEdison as TerraForm Power's sponsor and controlling shareholder, Reuters reports . Brookfield is TerraForm Power's largest shareholder, with a more than 12 percent stake.

TerraForm Power Inc, the "yieldco" of bankrupt solar company SunEdison Inc, said it would sell some UK solar projects to Vortex, the renewable energy investment platform of Egypt's EFG Hermes , for about $580 million. Shares of TerraForm Power were up 3.3 percent at $13.5 in early trading. TerraForm Power and TerraForm Global Inc, the other yieldco of SunEdison, said in September they were exploring strategic alternatives, including a sale of their entire business.
