Syniverse tackles fraud, ID theft in new joint venture

Consumers will get real-time alerts about financial transactions so in order to protect themselves from fraud and identity theft, under a new joint venture between Syniverse in Tampa and First Performance Global Corp. The new joint venture, named SyntraPoint LLC, was established six months before payments giant Visa (NYSE: V) requires users receive some type of transaction alert on every purchase, with MasterCard (MA) expected to follow suit, according to pymnts.com. The alerts and card controls will exceed the minimum mandate requirements set by card issuers, said Dave Ratner, president, enterprise solutions at Syniverse, which provides services for mobile network operators and businesses worldwide. “We are enabling a set of tools that increase cardholder satisfaction with the added security benefits that are necessary in today’s market while laying the foundation for future use cases to enable financial institutions to engage their members and cardholders via mobile anytime, anywhere,” Ratner said in the release.
