    Hepatitis A outbreak gives Hawaii pharmacies a rush of business

    Hawaii pharmacies are getting a windfall from the hepatitis A outbreak as customers rush to get vaccinated against the virus-borne ailment that state health officials have traced back to tainted seafood served at a sushi chain. At the Safeway pharmacy on Kapahulu Avenue, for example, pharmacists typically vaccinate about 10 people a week for hepatitis A. Most are travelers heading to exotic locations in China, Vietnam or Africa. Now the four Safeway pharmacies on Oahu are vaccinating more than 200 people a day, including more than 100 at the Kapahulu store, a 10-fold increase.

    Hold the mayo: SEC investigating Hampton Creek

    The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission is probing food tech startup Hampton Creek to determine if the San Francisco company improperly identified revenue from purchases it made of its own product, Bloomberg reports . The inquiry comes after word got out last week that the company spent $77,000 from 2014 to 2015 to buy back its eggless, vegan product Just Mayo from retailers including Safeway, Costco, Whole Foods, Target and Kroger to make it appear more popular.
