Publix Super Markets Inc. has jumped on the meal kit bandwagon, hoping consumers will choose what's essentially on-demand home cooking over restaurant takeout and delivery. The Lakeland-based grocer is offering meal kits at two of its more than 1,100 stores: in Tampa's Shoppes of Citrus Park at 7835 Gunn Highway and Orlando's The Marketplace at Dr. Phillips, at 7524 Dr. Phillips Blvd. In the Tampa store, the meal kits are in a highly visible refrigerated kiosk near the checkout lanes, perfectly positioned for a grab 'n' go dinner run on a busy evening.

The One Loudoun development in Ashburn is losing one of its anchor tenants less than four years after opened. Fresh Market, the gourmet grocery store there, has said it will close. The company also said that it considered “the overall growth strategy and long-term performance of the company.” The store is currently operating under shortened hours and selling its inventory at 30 percent off, according to Loudoun Now .
