Charlotte’s Speedway Mortorsports Inc. reported a good third quarter, bolstered by the sold-out Tennessee-Virginia Tech “Battle at Bristol,” which racked up the largest collegiate football game attendance in NCAA history at SMI’s Bristol Motor Speedway. CEO Marcus Smith said on the company’s earnings call Wednesday that Speedway Mortorsports remains on track to make full-year earnings in the 90 cents to $1.10 range. Smith said 156,990 people attended the Sept. 10 “Battle at Bristol” football game that Tennessee won handily 45-24.
