    Turkey: Will Moody's Downgrade Debt?

After the failed coup attempt in Turkey, S&P Global downgraded its rating on the country's sovereign credit, Fitch Ratings downgraded local bonds and Moody's Investors Service is set to review its ratings. Oil prices are lower, and that helps Turkey's economy as it imports oil. Travel Weekly writes: "Even before military tanks appeared on the streets ... and a terrorist assault on Istanbul’s Ataturk Airport on June 28 killed 42 people and left more than 200 wounded, tourism in Turkey had been devastated [with] a series of terrorist attacks in the country over the last 18 months ..." But Societe Generale analysts think that Moody's won't downgrade, given likely "insufficient evidence on growth deterioration or increased pressure on external balances over the very near term." Analysts Phoenix Kalen and Roxana Hulea, however, retain their long position in the U.S. dollar (USD) against the Turkish lira (TRY).
