    Kroger could be looking to snap up Walgreens, Rite Aid stores

    Kroger Co. could be a prime bidder for some Rite Aid or Walgreens drug stores that will need to be sold when those two companies finally complete their merger later this year. Cincinnati-based Kroger (KR), the nation’s largest operator of traditional supermarkets including Pick 'n Save stores in the Milwaukee area, is a potential buyer of some of the 500 stores that will likely be put up for sale, according to a Bloomberg report . Kroger was rumored to be a potential buyer of Rite Aid more than a year ago, before the drug store chain reached a deal in October to be acquired by Walgreens parent Walgreens Boots Alliance.

    Prime Therapeutics and Walgreens will merge mail-order specialty pharma businesses

    Prime Therapeutics and Walgreens will combine their mail-order pharmacy and specialty drug businesses through a partnership announced Monday. Eagan-based Prime and Walgreens’ parent company, Deerfield, Ill.-based Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc., haven’t determined where the combined company will have its headquarters. Prime and Walgreens (WBA) will name leadership for the combined company later this year.
