    Former Walgreens CEO has died

    Charles R. Walgreen III, former chairman and CEO of drugstore chain Walgreen Co., died Monday at his home in Lake Forest, according to an announcement from the company. Walgreen III was the grandson of Walgreens founder Charles R. Walgreen Sr. and started his nearly six-decade-long career with the company as a stock boy in 1952. After earning a degree in pharmacy from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor in 1958, Walgreen III returned as a pharmacist at a Walgreens drugstore on Chicago's south side.
