It was nearly five years ago that I first started covering D.C.’s commercial real estate scene for the WBJ, another transplant to D.C. with virtually no institutional memory of this city. One such tale came from one of his former Coldwell Banker co-workers, Tom Cafferty, who landed The Boeing Co. as a build-to-suit tenant at one of his properties in Alexandria in 1987 only to lose it to Boston Properties’ Virginia 95 Business Park when the contractor’s lease came up for renewal.
