    Cree exec: Gas stations mean growth for us

    Weeks after releasing numbers highlighting the struggles of its lighting segment, LED innovator Cree is spinning a newly upgraded technology out of its Durham research labs and into the commercial market. The latest luminaire developed by its Durham technologists is intended for what Cree calls the “petroleum space,” aka gas stations, and offers increased light performance and lower operating costs, according to a Cree Statement. Erik Milz, the Durham-based vice president of product marketing for Cree’s outdoor lighting segment says that, while it’s not a new product platform (the Canopy line debuted on the market in 2013), it is a way for both Cree (CREE) and its customers to stand out from the competition.
