Shares of Brazilian mining giant Vale (VALE) are up more than 2% today after it reported a rise in iron ore production. Dow Jones Newswires reports that the stock was upgraded to Outperform from Market Perform by analysts at Itau BBA and explains the stock movement: Vale's third quarter iron-ore production rose 1.5% year-over-year, above expectations. Here's the take from analysts at AB, formerly Alliance Bernstein: "Iron ore production was up 6.1% QoQ but flat YoY (including Samarco, while excluding Samarco production is up 1.5%) though still beat our estimates for the quarter (+3.5% vs. Bernstein).
