Thursday, December 24, 2009, 11:50AM ET - U.S. Markets close early today in 1 hour and 10 minutes for Christmas Eve.

From ClusterStock, Nov. 20, 2008:
GE is talking to several sovereign wealth funds about becoming investors. Not clear from story below whether company would issue more stock (dilute current shareholders) or whether the funds would buy on open market. Probably the former.
Bloomberg: GE is in talks with four Asian sovereign wealth funds, including China Investment Corp., to win them as investors.
The funds also include Government of Singapore Investment Corp. and Temasek Holdings Pte, also of Singapore, as well as China Safe Investments Ltd., Brussels-based spokeswoman Elma Peters said in a phone interview today.
The negotiations follow GE's $8 billion venture with Abu Dhabi's Mubadala Development Co. as the U.S. company seeks to tap infrastructure spending outside its home market. Getting venture partners to become shareholders has the added advantage of establishing a more stable investor base.
Talks with "a number" of sovereign wealth funds interested in water-technology projects have been held, Steve Bolze, who runs GE's power and water unit, said yesterday in a phone interview from Belfort, France.
Peters confirmed earlier comments from Ferdinando Beccalli- Falco, international head at Fairfield, Connecticut-based GE, reported by the Financial Times Deutschland.
If GE is raising capital with the stock at $14, trends in the finance business have probably deteriorated further.

Henry Blodget should be jailed for spreading rumors, this story is false and they know it yet they still keep it posted here. How sad so many people want to make is worse than it is. Put the people that start or keep posting rumors in jail and maybe that way they will check out a story before posting it.
If you beleive that this country will ramp up our efforts to go to alternate and renewable energy sources and if there is a coming water crises then GE is the perfect investment to make at $13 or so.
Get rid of the CEO,he has trashed this Co.Jack please come back and save the day. This guy is a clown.SELL
Ah yes, Henry Blodgett speaks. And are we little people supposed to listen to a lying creep who sold his reputation for dollars. But yes, I suppose we are. I mean, if the US Senate could applaud a convicted felon and give him a standing ovation as he sails into jail, listening to Blodgett is no big deal. I think we should arrange a tailgate party for tens of thousands on the day OJ enters to prison just to show our support. People in the know a century ago who performed in vaudeville had it right when they said, I don't care what you write about me; just make sure you spell my noame right.
It appears that Mr. Bush is crowning one of Mr. Ronald Reagan's worst ideas: Free interprise without adult supervision. Today, Wall street is not only indulging in this criminal act but also fleecing the American people and spreading poverty across the nation. Where's Mr. Bush? Is he gonna let these thieves short-sell Citi out of business? Hopefully, Mr. Obama will persecute the Wall Street thieves and send a strong message to these criminals.
Remember the quote: "The only thing to fear is fear itself." What a time to Buy stock! Remember money doesn't disappear it is repositioned. Get positioned NOW because within 6 to 18 months you will think you were a genius with your money. Best buying opportunity of a lifetime! 90% of the downturn in the market is based on fear. Thank you for this great opportunity to buy in a way undervalued market. And thank you for the wake up call on how stupid we can be (buying homes with nothing down) to get in this situation which the cause is all based on greed and ego! Now we hopefully will wake up and not live a lie and start thinking straight. Happy days are here again. We can finally start telling the truth about how we live and change our ways! The markets will respond in kind and values will return until we get stupid again.
