Friday, December 4, 2009, 2:06AM ET - U.S. Markets open in 7 hours and 24 minutes.
Here's a hint: It's not just discounts and free shipping. Or at least that's the advice of my guest today Charlene Li of market research firm Altimeter Group. She wants shopping to be social again, whether you're online -- or waiting in a real line, as Li did on Black Friday. And for that to happen eCommerce companies are going to have to do something they haven't done in a long time: Innovate.
More tough eTailing love from Li and me-- two online shopping addicts-- on the clip.
It's hard to take her seriously when she looks so ridiculous.
you people are so superficial and so shallow. charlene wants it to be social, because she is lonely.
we wont need market researchers in the future. get with the program people
I agree with the idea that shopping should be more of a social experience, but shoppers have to change their attitude and become more willing to socialize. For most people, shopping is a solitary experience. Few shoppers bother to make the effort to start a conversation with another shopper. Shopping at the supermarket or at the mall, for example, should be an ideal place for men and women to meet. Sadly it is not.
