From Silicon Alley Insider:
Apple bull Gene Munster says he was "shocked" to hear that Steve Jobs won't be giving the Macworld keynote in three weeks. He wasn't the only one.
Let's walk through some possible reasons for this decision:

Steve Jobs is one of a kind. I hope he is doing well.
Bill Gates should step in and do the keynote...Vista is like Mac OS 1989! nyuk nyuk nyuk
Does Apple have a succession plan? If so, who will replace Jobs?
Steve Jobs might be the driving force behind Apple's success, but he can't be the whole company. Apple is still debt free, loaded with cash & full of talent, with or without Mr. Jobs. My god, look how many institutional investors hold Apple stock. Take a deep breath!!! Exhale!!!! Things are going to be fine!
Could it be Steve Jobs was invested in Madoff, who has made off with his nest iEgg?
Time for journalists to spread fear and hype in order to increase readerships, oops, you've already done it. Journalistic integrity bye, bye, Whore house, here we come!
Steve Jobs leadership is a big part of Apples success. Without him...?
Apple is selling it's iphone at Walmart - can you say "Decline"?
Or a 4th reason.... apple has been wanting to buy back stock and waiting for the stcok price to get into the 70s. Maybe this is the trigger to drive down the stock price to be able to do a buyback before a major product launch at Macworld.
It is up to Apple to attend or not. Why doesn't anyone talk about Warren Buffet's health and or successor at Berkshire? Buy more AAPL under $90.....
Maybe there will be free iphones for everyone and the keynote will be a C#
Putting so much faith in one man is silly......
how about this? reason for apple to stop attending macworld: apple does not want to be tied to specific dates for introduction of new products or services. reason for steve jobs not doing keynote: how many times would you continue to appear publicly when every single time you do people talk about your personal health AND your company 's stock takes a huge tumble?
The only Apple we will need in the future is one we can eat.
Well....maybe Timothy Cook will be speaking instead???
obviously I hope Mr. Jobs is fine - but can you spell buying opportunity??
