Buyout Rumors, Earnings Ignite Big Stock Moves Amid Market Malaise

 Update: Stocks were set for a middling open Wednesday after Costco and Electronic Arts warned, and Kraft Foods, Walt Disney and Time Warner each reported worse-than-expected fourth-quarter results. Still,  a better-than-expected ADP Employment report offset some of the bad corporate news, including more mass layoffs.

Earlier: Relatively speaking, the market is still experiencing big moves, as Tuesday's 1.5%-2% rally indicates. But relative to the September-November timeframe, when 700 point moves seemed the norm, the market has settled down into a much calmer environment - not that many are complaining.

But amid this period of relatively modest market drama, some individual stocks are experiencing outsized moves, in both directions.

As president of OptionMonster.com, Jon Najarian is focused on finding names with unusual call (bullish) or put (bearish) option activity that are often harbingers of big moves in the underlying common stock.

In the accompanying video, Najarian gives his insights on names like Intuitive Surgical and DryShips that have had big moves lately, and previews earnings slated for Wednesday from firms like Clorox, Ralph Lauren, Visa and Devon Energy.
