3G iPhone: Will It Be Better Than Sex?

Posted Jun 06, 2008 05:14pm EDT by Aaron Task in Electronics, Telecom, Newsmakers, Products and Trends

The mania is building, as Apple fans prepare for big news today. Steve Jobs is expected to unveil a new 3G iPhone at the company's  Developers Conference in San Francisco. We spoke to gadget lovers on the streets of Manhattan and did a comparison of what the iPhone is likely to offer versus its top competitors.

One of the burning questions: will the new 3G phone really cost as little as $200?

I refused to by the iPhone when using the AT&T EDGE network. I will be first in line for the new 3G iPhone. Now the real question...how long will I have to wait to get my new 3G iPhone?

I understand that APPL is releasing a 3G phone but what does that translate into on T's network? Isn't the phone only as good as the network?

Moritz can't confirm a $200.00 iPhone as that's only a rumor he is pushing.

All this hype. When the product finally arrives it'll be an anticlimax.

Eh who cares, a cell phone is a cell phone is a cell phone. If you want a computer, buy a computer, not a phone.

d_mnbadword is right on. The whole concept of a society wrapped up in materialism is by itself becoming quickly passe as the population explodes, and with it hunger, unrest and violence! Let's start using our 200 to help our poorer fellow human beings for a change!

PS I bet half the people that buy an iPhone already have a phone that works just fine....

Quite amusing! Aaron, you make a great anchor. You consistently provide insightful analysis and conduct forthright interviews, without the ego that drips off the cable TV blatherers. Henry's awesome, too, but if you weren't there to keep him calm he'd probably gesticulate himself into a seizure!

3G is BS! I have had two HTC 3G and let me just tell you that the 16Gz iPhone Rocks! I have had 4 Palm 750's, 2 HTC's and all 6 phones within ONE YEAR died. Drop calls, the graphics not as sharp as the regular iphone. Folks, dont buy into that 3G jazz. ATT is ok, they all stink in my books and all have issues. However...in the 7 months i have had this iPhone 16Gz...not one dropped call, not one Freeze-up and very fast service. BTW... ATT sucks when it comes to Tech Support and trust me...APPLe does ALL Tech Support so dont worry. ATT just sells them but Apple supports them. AND to Optical Amp...Edge is just fine, very quick and you are wrong.

Any suggestions on what to do with our current iphones when we buy the new one? Was thinking of giving it to the wife (she is using a cheap nokia on Verizon). T Think I will get the subsidy from ATT considering I will put her on the family plan as opposed to her becoming a full fledge new user?
