3G iPhone: Can It Run on Flower Power?

Posted Jul 09, 2008 04:43pm EDT by Aaron Task in Electronics, Products and Trends
The 3G iPhone goes on sale Friday morning, but some people just can't wait. Since July 4, there's been a line of folks waiting at the 5th Avenue Apple store in New York City for a chance to be the first to get Steve Jobs' latest wonder.

But the people behind "Waiting for Apples"  have more than just iPhones on their mind. These are not your typical gadget freaks. In fact, these so-called Apple hippies have more in common with the "flower children" of the 1960s than the folks who typically line up for the chance to be the first to buy, say, new video games or consoles.

"Waiting for Apples" sees the 3G iPhone as nothing less than a communications revolution and plans to use it to deliver their message of peace, love and organic farming to Presidential candidates Barack Obama and John McCain.

We wish them luck.

And for the record, some of the same folks in the accompanying video were featured in David Pogue's report for CNBC/The NYT; key difference is our piece wasn't scripted.
