Julia Allison's Real Test

Posted Jul 30, 2008 01:28pm EDT by Sarah Lacy in Internet, Media, Venture Capital, M and A, IPOs

Earlier this year Radar.com named Julia Allison one of the most hated people on the Internet. That may be true, but as this month's Wired cover story explains, Allison has ridden controversy to fame and opportunity. She's just launched a new startup, Nonsociety, with two Manhattan co-founders and the three of them are also filming a reality show pilot for Bravo to document it.

Allison has proved she can become famous just by being herself. But can she build a whole business around helping others do the same? It's definitely a New York take on an Internet company. Plus, click here for my earlier conversation with Allison on how businesses can make Internet fame work for them.

What a horrible woman! Most hated on the internet, yep, it's easy to see why. That croaking voice, the narcissistic mission to be famous 24 hours a day chronicling her mundane, vapid and pedestrian life - that stuff is really annoying. Who cares about Julia Allison and her two friends and their fabulous NYC lifestyle? And why is Sarah Lacy giving all this free publicity to her? Yahoo thinks that this is a good use of their resources to pay Sarah Lacy to promote this horrible b****?? I love Sarah's boob job, though.

Fake! All people care about is about money. How about helping others? Is that such a hard concept? People only get places by looking good or by "special favors".

Until today, I had never heard of Julia. Not her fault, mind you, but really, how is she any worse than that silly Maria Sansone? (BTW, whatever happened to her?) She's kind of cute, but the problem guys seem to have with her is that she's reasonably articulate, and has a slight attitude. Will she make it ? Who really cares...

Definitely not very professional nor concise in her speaking ability. And she calls herself a journalist. Ugh..time to watch a movie. ;)

So which is worse, vapid coverage of someone whose claim to fame is the absence of value? or Blodget giving financial advice after being banned from the industry for giving phony investment advice. How low can this site go?

She looks like a cross between Dolly Parton and Eva Longoria. Except....well......she cant sing and cant act. But she's good at going to parties and flirting, being a dittz... And she making Sarah Lacy look bad.

She has a nice personality, she is young and smart. Good work, go and be all you can be.

I liked Julia on "Red Eye" when she just sat there & laughed. I thought she was cute, then she opened her mouth & got banned from that show (which is very hard to do). Now that I see her doing other things I can see she is a no talent.
