Craig Newmark's Moral Compass

Posted Mar 06, 2008 03:28pm EST by Sarah Lacy in Internet, Media, Newsmakers, Venture Capital, M and A, IPOs
Craig Newmark isn't the CEO of a huge public company. He's not a VC power broker. He's no linchpin of San Francisco society. But he's one of the most beloved figures on the Net. The witty and self-effacing Newmark is, of course, the Craig in Craigslist. Craigslist is the twenty-third largest site in the U.S., according to HitWise and just keeps growing. Meanwhile it charges less than 1% of those users any fees and has zero advertising. It may be one of the most un-ambitious companies in the Valley -- even if it's one of the most successful.

classifiedautomation.com is a nasty spam parasites that would infest and degrade its target. Here's their hype" This "Craigslist Auto Posting Software Application can post to 10 cities at a time, every minute, all day long." Wow! Hey CL'ers, can someone figure out how to derail this self-serving replicating corporate virus! How 'bout "cease and desist?" Or a can of raid?

Very down to earth - huge appreciation for having what you have without the need beyond ones own ability to consume. There's some investing insight here learned from past associated risk and how to limit an exposure. Thanks for resisting the trend of mainstream media. I just started using the listing to see my stuff better used by others. A genuine value for any community and fits the intended design. Thank You.

I think that Mike K has an aversion to the English language. Maybe he is an inbred? We certainly have more to fear from the Mike K's in the world than the people who do such things as founding the awe inspiring Craigslist.
