OpenTable was a rare dot com survivor and as such it went through a period of hunkered-down survival mode. One example: The so-called Internet company only had one developer devoted to the diner-facing site for the first nine years of its life, while all the others toiled away on the back-end reservation engine that generates OpenTable’s actual revenues.
When eBay veteran Jeff Jordan took over OpenTable’s CEO reigns two years ago, he set out to change that. Under Jordan’s tenure OpenTable has invested more in the look and feel of the site and invested heavily in international expansion.
What’s next for the company now that it has a stock currency and some $25 million in cash in the bank? We put that question to Jordan in his first interview since the company’s quiet period ended. I started by asking why international expansion was such a priority when so many restaurants in the US don’t yet use the software.
Uncle_vito - OpenTable makes it very obvious when a restaurant doesn't give them the best times. You shouldn't blame OT if that went over your head. Don't believe me? Try this: Go to OpenTable.com, click on "Boston", and for the restaurant name enter "Blue Ginger". Try getting a table there for 7PM on a Friday night. It is *very* clear that the restaurant is holding things back. "Restricted by restaurant", it says. Click on that link and you get a pop-up explaining the situation.

buddy.wilson@rocketmail.com - Thursday August 06, 2009 07:57AM EDT--------------Hey Buddy, learn how to use commas.
They are sure trying to sell the open table startup.
I hate to upset all you commies, but realize that the wealthy can still leave this country. Then the 50 million who do not pay taxes will have a reality check.
buddy.wilson@rocketmail.com - Please note that the mid-class and lower will suffer the most from this destruction of wealth and our health care system.
To: Markb97492....You Hit the Nail on the Head.....Amen...
Oh how greed explains everything. Problem is, it explains nothing. You can't even provide a definition of greed.
buddy.wilson@rocketmail.com, you my friend, are a complete moron. Taxing income does not affect the wealthy one bit. It keeps us poor working shlubs poor. Think about it... how am I going to get as wealthy as Buffet if they take 80 cents of every dollar I make? If you want to tax wealthy people, then tax wealth, not income you boob. I am a small business owner who employs 12 people. We are a S type corporation. This means that the company's taxes are filed on my personal return. This puts me in the the top 1% on paper. right now 60 cents of every dollar we make goes out the door with all of the taxes combined. You can take you little chart and shove it right up your A**, clown. Raise the taxes on me more and you can start paying all of my employees, cause I am heading for the beach. not going to work 80 hours a week to pay for your health care my moronic friend.
GREED IS NOT CRIME,BUT CRIME BECAUSE OF GREED, IS CRIME.
BUDDY WILSON's point is not well thought out. Fair taxes would be when everyone pays an equal number of dollars. Wealthy people don't use more Federal services than middle class or lower income people, so why should they pay more dollars? When the military is deployed, the wealthy don't cost more to defend than the rest of the people. When a Federal highway is built, the wealthy don't gain anymore benefit than anyone else. The fact is that lower income people utilize far more services and cost more to the public than the wealthy. In fact if taxes go up for the wealthy executives, then the salaries will need to go sky high in order to get them the same amount of compensation after taxes as they had prior to the tax hike. Competition to get the best executives will increase and wage inflation will cause companies to further be at a disadvantage to foreign competitors since the money for wages will take away from R&D money, marketing, and other profit producing activies. Progressive tax rates is simply a method of having the winners paying the bills of the Losers. The winners are the ones who went to school everyday, worked hard at their studies, did their homework and did extra homework that wasn't even assigned. They weren't cutting school, sitting an watching MTV, the NBA, and the NFL, and hanging out on the streets seeing how many women they could get and sometimes get pregnant. So therefore the winners already paid for the schools, books, teachers, buses, summer camps, school breakfast and lunches, after school care, and sometimes for the dwelling and food for those who could not pay for all of these things on their own. So a chance has been given - some used it and moved into the middle or upper class (example: Barack Obama) - some squandered it and wasted the monies that were allocated to give everyone a chance. In fact after they squander it, we still give them another chance with grants, fellowships, job retraining programs, community block grants, and made-up jobs in some communities to reduce unemployment of 'unskilled workers' (I put unskilled in quotes because I believe that there are latent skills present, but the time to develop those skills has been squandered). So the winners don't need to give more money to the losers in order for them to succeed. The Losers need to start efficiently using the money that that continues to be sucked into the black hole of social programs and entitlements, which are nothing but political bribes. A great example of this is the public schools system. You could raise the salary of every employee in the system to $250,000 each and it won't make a difference if the cultural attitude in the cities doesn't change. The only way that more money can make a difference is if the government uses it to buy 'parents' who cook, clean, read to their children, monitor what they watch on TV, know who they hang out with, look over their homework, teach their children, go to school conferences, wash their clothes so the children look neat and clean, and teach them manners, and hug them. If there is a place to buy this than I think that I will happily support the gov't floating bonds at whatever cost, because I know it will be a one time cost that will dissapear in a generation. But until the culture is changed that causes the Losers to exist, then I can't see any reason why we should spend any money at all, yet alone more. And I preface all of this by saying that if someone is born with or naturally (not due to drug abuse or wreckless activities) develops a mental or physical diability, condition, or impairment, then society should help to provide all that is needed to give that person a chance and to take care of them.
I totally agree with Uncle_Vito, I can never get a good table through OpenTable, so I've stopped using them. Instead, when I call, they always remember my boss' name and I get the good tables.
Get a clue...most people are lazy and are happy punching the clock from 9-5. You pay virtually nothing for all of the government services you are provided. The "rich" pay for all of your lazy asses. You probably won't get it, but there is a thing called the "law of diminishing returns". Even rich people get to a point where they won't just sit around and get hosed. Since over 70% of the "rich" are people that mortgaged their lives to start a successful business...and these people actually created jobs for your lazy asses, those jobs will go away as they allocate those salaries to paying for more excess by our government. That's the reality, not your nonsensical postings about fairness.

Dems have been in control of government now for 3 years. It is their economy and they are in denial when they blame Bush. My net worth is down 50% since Reed and Pelosi took charge of the economy. Ouch!
I'm not sure Prechter is short, but he is cautious and states the market is in the low range of it's probable highs and that a new leg down is coming and that it will be a doozy. He can't say when. I thought he said don't short yet. That said, he has been on the money far more than any one else I follow and I do a lot of research in this department.............

fI once made a reservation through OT. They only had bad times for dinner. When I got to the restaurant, I notice they were not full at all. I mentioned OT only showed bad reservation times. They said they didn't give OT the best times. I should have just called the restaurant on my own. I quit OT right then. What a joke. Vito
