Facebook’s Market Cap Is About to Surpass IBM’s
This chart was posted by @jackdamn on StockTwits and shows the meteoric rise of Facebook stock since its IPO two years ago relative to IBM shares which have stagnated, even drifted lower, during an epic bull market.
While Damn’s caption might be a bit presumptuous, its hard to deny Facebook’s momentum. Its a ten year old company that has more than doubled in value since it was priced in the second quarter of 2012.
IBM, on the other hand, is the venerable stalwart of tech stocks, founded over 100 years ago.
The big difference is revenue growth, or in the case of IBM, the lack thereof.
While Facebook is predicted to grow sales by 55% in 2014, IBM sales will likely decline by 2%.
Out with the old and in with the new I guess…
