by TheStreet 0:45 mins

Amazon is reportedly close to a deal to buy the popular gaming website, Twitch. Twitch is equivalent to YouTube in the online gaming world and users can live stream the games as they play. It has over 45 million users who spend more than 100 minutes on the site each day. The terms of the deal between Amazon and Twitch are not made public yet, but according to the Wall Street Journal, the acquisition price could be well above $1 billion. It's unclear how Amazon will incorporate Twitch into its existing platform. Google was previously interested in acquiring Twitch. Sources say that agreement did not go through and Amazon pursued Twitch afterward.
