Activist investor Carl Icahn filed a lawsuit to try to block Dell Inc from setting a new record date ahead of a crucial shareholders' vote, raising the stakes in a battle to derail a $24.4 billion buyout of the world's No. 3 PC maker. Fugitive former U.S. spy agency contractor Edward Snowden slipped quietly out of Moscow's Sheremetyevo airport, after Russia granted him temporary asylum, ending more than a month in limbo in the transit area. Russia has said it would not hand over Snowden to the United States, where he is wanted on espionage charges after leaking details of secret government surveillance programs. The case has further strained ties between Washington and Moscow. Stocks rose on Wall Street, sending the Standard & Poor's 500 index above 1,700 points for the first time.
