The U.S. Senate voted to move toward approving Fred Hochberg for a second term as president of the U.S. Export-Import Bank, which will have to stop-conducting-business-next-week unless Hochberg is confirmed. Stocks edged higher in early trading on Wall Street after several major companies reported earnings gains and Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke said the central bank had no firm timetable for cutting back on its bond purchases. Asiana Airlines said it has scrapped a plan to sue a U.S. television station that reported incorrect and racially offensive names of the names of pilots of the flight that crash-landed in San Francisco this month. In a statement, the South Korean airline said "Asiana Airlines has decided not to proceed with the case since KTVU has issued a formal apology and in order for us to focus all our efforts on managing the aftermath of the accident."
