The chief justice of Egypt's Supreme Constitutional Court Adli Mansour, was sworn in as the nation's interim president, taking over hours after the military ousted Islamist President Mohammed Morsi, while the army launched a crackdown on the Muslim Brotherhood, the group from which Morsi hails. Egypt's leading democracy advocate Mohamed ElBaradei and top Muslim and Coptic Christian clerics met with the army chief to discuss a political road map for Egypt only hours before a military ultimatum to the Islamist president was set to expire. A military judge entered a not-guilty plea Tuesday for the Army psychiatrist charged in the deadly 2009 Fort Hood shooting rampage.?Major Nidal Hasan refused to enter a plea.
