BlackBerry May Be Unveiling New Phones, But It's a Software Play

BlackBerry just announced its new touchscreen phone, the BlackBerry Leap, at Mobile World Congress -- just one of four new devices the company has planned this year. Colin Gillis, director of research at BGC Partners, says he likes BlackBerry right here, right now -- but as a software play. While he acknowledges that this is not a play for every investor as it's a turnaround situation, Gillis notes that the company just turned cash flow positive last quarter, it has new management and its focus on mobile security software will be key to BlackBerry's future. With the company reporting earnings later this month, Gillis warns that it will be volatile as the pressure on revenue remains, but he like the stock as a long-term software play.
