Britain's Treasury Chief is about to announce the billions of pounds in spending cuts. The Treasury Chief, George Osborne, was hoping there would be no more austerity measures. But Britain's growth rate remains an anemic 0.3 percent, and the deficit has increased. Analysts suggest some departments could get cuts of up to 10 percent. New England Patriots star tight end Aaron Hernandez was arrested, more than a week after a body was found near his home in Massachusetts. Less than two hours after the arrest, the Patriots announced they were releasing Hernandez. Formal charges have not yet been filed. It was unclear why Hernandez was taken into custody. The United States Supreme Court delivered a pretty crushing blow to inequality.The high court determined that the federal Defense of Marriage Act, signed by President Bill Clinton in 1996, is unconstitutional. In addition, the Supreme Court decided it could not take up a challenge to Proposition 8, the 2008 ballot measure in California that outlawed same-sex marriage, meaning that gay marriage is now legal in the Golden State.
