Tesla Motors founder Elon Musk has conceived of a ?fifth? form of transportation that he claims can ferry passengers from San Francisco to Los Angeles in just 30 minutes. And next month he plans to explain exactly what it is. In a tweet, Musk said he will unveil designs for his hyperloop system by August 12. What the hell?s a hyperloop? Speaking at D11, Musk described it as a ?cross between a Concorde, a railgun and an air hockey table.? HBO will continue to take a bite out of audiences. The premium cable network announced Monday that it has renewed True Blood for a seventh season. The series, which stars Anna Paquin, Stephen Moyer and Alexander Skarsgard, will return in summer 2014 with Brian Buckner returning as showrunner. The Red Cross appealed for a halt in the fierce fighting between President Bashar al-Assad's forces and rebels in the Syrian city of Homs, to bring in life-saving supplies to trapped residents. The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) said thousands of Syrian lives were at risk in the old city of Homs, where Assad's forces have been pushing a heavy offensive with air and artillery strikes to try to retake rebel areas. The Red Cross said combatants in the more than two-year conflict were hampering the delivery of aid to beleaguered locals and had failed to secure safe passage for trapped residents trying to flee the area.
