Comcast Beats Earnings Expectations, Announces Larger Stock Buyback

Comcast (CMCSA) beat earnings expectations on both the top and bottom lines. It's earnings came in at 79 cents a share versus 74 cents expected. It also increased its shareholder repurchase program by 2.5 billion dollars to a total of 6.75 billion dollars in 2015. Comcast said its video subscriptions were down slightly. Syngenta (SYT) shares rallied on reports that Monsanto plans to make an offer to buy the company. American Express (AXP) is rolling out its loyalty program called "Plenti" today. The program allows shoppers to earn rewards through a variety of purchases, from various merchants such as Macy's and Rite Aid.
