Leon Cooperman, Omega Advisors chairman & CEO, reveals how he is playing the stocks in his portfolio now, and shares his winning investment strategy.
Doc W: Obviously there will still be a very large number of illegal aliens left in our country after all the over-staid visas and criminals have been deported. Presumably they will be able to continue working here but will never have the opportunity of becoming citizens unless they go home and wait in line with others applying for legal citizenship. Many questions remain as to what privileges they will have living here as illegals. Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security Retirement benefits, eligibility for holding public office, health care, food stamps, welfare benefits, unemployment compensation, voting for local offices (certainly not for State or Federal elections) possessing firearms, etc., etc.? I assume they face deportation if found guilty of a felony? The devil is in the details, but to allow them to jump in line ahead of all those applying for legal citizenship would certainly not be fair to those playing by the rules. In any case I agree with his America-first stance. The welfare, or comfort, or convenience of illegals should be secondary.
