June retail sales are expected to notch a strong 0.6% increase, topping a 0.3% gain in May and 0.5% rise in April. But, there is new evidence that suggests the U.S. consumer has waved goodbye to retail stores for the summer, and that does not bode well for the start of the back to school selling season in August. To find this evidence, you simply have to search deep into recent retailer SEC filings and look closely at certain stock price movements. TheStreet's Retail Contributor Brian Sozzi shares what he found by doing each of these two exercises. The conclusion: the important back to school selling season is at risk of starting slowly.
