Disaster & Accident Breaking News: Boeing Shares Rise: Preliminary Probe Finds No Evidence of Battery Fault

Wochit 0:59 mins

Shares of Boeing Co rose as much 3 percent in early trade as an investigation into a fire that broke out on a 787 Dreamliner in London did not blame the plane's batteries. News of the fire had sent Boeing's shares down 4.7 percent July 12th, knocking $3.8 billion off the company's market value. Asiana Airlines said that it would enhance training for pilots seeking to convert to flying new aircraft, part of a series of measures it is undertaking after the fatal crash. Unless the cause of the Heathrow fire is pinpointed quickly, Boeing could once again find itself in a delicate spot of balancing passenger safety with high financial stakes. Air accident investigators continued to try to figure out why a parked 787 Dreamliner caught fire.
