Disaster & Accident Breaking News: Dreamliner Fire Probe Focuses on Beacon

Wochit 0:58 mins

British regulators investigating the fire on a Boeing 787 Dreamliner identified the plane's emergency locator beacon as a likely source of the blaze and said it should be switched off, spurring a rally in shares from relieved investors. Boeing Co said emergency beacons made by Honeywell International can be simply removed from the Boeing 787 in about an hour, after UK authorities investigating a 787 fire in London, recommended de-activating the devices. U.K. air accident investigators are recommending that all Honeywell emergency transmitters should be temporarily disabled on Boeing 787s following a fire last week at London's Heathrow Airport.
