Environment Breaking News: New York Has Enough Power for Record Usage in Heat Wave

Wochit 0:52 mins

New York State's power grid operator said it expects to have enough power to meet a forecast for record electric usage from air conditioners as people try to keep cool in a blistering six day-long heat wave. Steam is rising from a destroyed building that houses a reactor at Japan's crippled Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant, the operator of the plant, Tokyo Electric Power Co, said. China's Commerce Ministry issued preliminary anti-dumping duties on imports of U.S. and South Korean solar-grade polysilicon, but made no decision on tariffs on European Union exports of the raw material used to make solar panels.
