French President Francois Hollande said Europe's second-largest economy was recovering and tried to fight deepening pessimism in an interview, two days after ratings agency Fitch stripped the country of its last top-notch credit rating. German Chancellor Angela Merkel is calling for tougher European and global rules on data protection amid fallout from recent revelations about U.S. surveillance programs. Spain's economy minister Luis De Guindos said in an interview that he's country economy will grow in the second half of the year but the government must implement reforms and cut the deficit - at the right pace - to keep the recovery going
