Nic: Who will pay the reparations? If reparations were to come from a federal source, does that mean African Americans would be paying themselves (their population percentage portion) through Federal tax? What will be the ultimate outcome of reparation? In my opinion, that idea that using money to say "I'm sorry" is somewhat disrespectful. No doubt that holding someone in bondage is wrong, make that atrocious. This is an unfortunate part of America's history, a part that can't be erased. The questions I pose are directed towards the 'effect' portion of the equation being that we already know that cause. What is the intended purpose of reparations? How will $ make race relations better? Are reparations a 1-time payment? Are the following generations of African Americans to be entitled to reparations? What if you are of mixed ethnicity which includes African heritage? Do new citizens, pledging allegiance for the first time as a U.S. citizen, have to pay? Will BLM go away if reparations are paid? Will the statistic of 70% single parent African American homes be reversed? I understand being remorseful but I don't feel as though money makes an apology genuine.
