Health Care Breaking News: Testing Requirements Could Delay Launch of State Health Exchanges

Government officials said during a Capitol Hill hearing that the October 1st deadline may not allow enough time to test the systems to run the proposed online insurance marketplaces known as the state health exchanges. House Republicans is pressing ahead on delaying key components of President Barack Obama's signature health care law, emboldened by the administration's concession that requiring companies to provide coverage for their workers next year may be too complicated. The Wall Street Journal's report on the first-year of the health law's pilot project, known as the Pioneer Accountable Care Organization program, showed mixed results. Quality of services improved, but only half the facilities in the program were able to lower costs.
